Week 4 Day 4 and 5

Hey you,

This week has been crazy busy. Week 4 Day 4 and 5 haven’t been any different A few late nights at the school and my body trying to fight off all these nasty germs going around has got me way behind. So sorry! Honestly, and I hope you agree, going for a run every night has been a non negotiable. I make sure I get that in over all else. It’s important to make sure that you put in as much time taking care of yourself as you do taking care of others. So that’s what I made sure to do this week. Yesterday, squeezing in a late run actually worked to my advantage. I’ll tell you why later!

Week 4 Day 4 and 5

How was your Week 4 Day 4 and 5???

You may notice, we ate out for dinner day 4 and 5. I wasn’t too happy about it but both of our schedules weren’t conducive to cooking dinner at home. Not trying to give an excuse. I know we need to do better. We were both just starving and did want to cook and eat at 9:00 pm. Next week we will do better. This has surely set my progress back a little. At least I kept running! Gotta look at a positive so I don’t beat myself up about it. I need to move on and do better next week!

Healthy Eating

So you win some and you lose some. I definitely won some battles the last two days and I definitely lost some battles the last two days. I already covered the ones that I lost. So here’s one that I won! There were multiple birthday’s this week at school. The amount of cookies and cupcakes that I was a bit much. However, I was able to stay strong and feel complete comfortable saying no thank you. There was only one time that I actually contemplated eating a cupcake but I knew that it wasn’t what I truly wanted so I made a good choice and didn’t give in.

Did you give in to your cravings??

Keep it Moving

Even though I got out of the habit of waking up at 5:00 am. I was able to stick to my afternoon workouts. It’s nice that it is a just a part of the routine now. As soon as I get home, I let my dogs out then get ready to go for a run. There’s no battle in my brain on whether I should or not. It’s just automatic. I plan to get back on track with my morning workouts in week 5!

My runs were also pretty great these last two days. One thing I have noticed is, I have been setting little goals for each run or even for part of the run. Sometimes I don’t set the goal until I get started running because some days I am more exhausted and can’t seem to push as hard. I try to create an attainable goal. That way I have a reason to be happy after a run instead of mad at myself for not reaching a goal.

So my goal for day 4 was to run two miles in under 20 minutes. That may not seem great to some of you but I struggle picking up the pace and I have a bigger goal of trying to keep up with my husband when we run our 5K this month. This means I have to train to pick up the pace a bit! I was so happy that I was able to accomplish my goal of getting two miles in under 20 minutes.

On day 5, my goal was to run 3.1 miles in under 30 minutes. Again, trying to get my pace down for the upcoming 5K. I was so excited that I was able to run it in 29 minutes. Funny story, since I started my run at 5:00 pm yesterday, near the end of it the sun was going down. Now I’ve been running on a bike path that I live by that is lined with trees and doesn’t have any lights. I was terrified that I wouldn’t make it back home before it got dark so I kicked it into high gear. I didn’t even want to stop and walk even when I was exhausted. Which is so not me, usually I am fighting the battle of running and walking in my head! Now I will just have to find that same motivation every time I run!!

What gives you motivation to pick up the pace?

Becoming Awesome

You may have been like me this week and made a few poor choices when it comes to healthy eating. However, don’t let it get you down! Maybe it was because you were super busy or had a crazy stressful day. One thing that is important to remember is that you need to take care of yourself. Make yourself a priority. I could have stayed at the school and worked until dark, and actually I needed too, but I didn’t because I knew I needed to get a run in. You must make the choices to work on you and not let people make you feel selfish for that. If you don’t work on you, no one will!
